I want to be like me!
This morning while I was reading, I realized how most of us envy someone else. Most of us want to be like someone else. Most of us want the talents of someone else. Most of us envy the position or the possessions of someone else. King Solomon in fact warns us about this in Ecclesiastes 4:4 when he says, “Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man’s envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.”
I also realized that God has probably never told anyone to be like someone else. God doesn’t tell us to be more like _________, because we can’t. He created them individually just like he created you individually. He really only wants us to be more like Jesus and display the love and character Christ displayed while he lived on earth.
We will never be able to use the talents of someone else, because we may never have those talents. He wants you use the talent that he gave you to use. We are all so individual in Luke 12:7 it says, “In fact, even the hairs on your head are all numbered. Do not be afraid.” I pray that you ask God to show you the talents he has placed in you, and that you will pray to be more like the person God created for his purpose.
